Preventing Knee Pain + Treatment and Remedies

Isa sa mga pinaka-iniiwasan ng mga professional athletes tulad ng basketball at volleyball players ang knee injury. Napaka-complex ng knee joint at pwedeng tumagal nang ilang buwan ang healing, recovery at knee pain treatment.

Bahagi ng knee area ang leg bones, patella (knee cap), muscles, at connective tissues na may iba’t-ibang functions: cartilage (connects bone to bone; provides shock absorption), tendons (connects muscle to bone; allows movement), ligaments (connects bone to bone; provides stability). Pwedeng maging source ng pain ang injury o iba pang problema sa mga bahagi na ito.

Causes of Knee Pain

Ayon sa Johns Hopkins Medicine1, karaniwang nagmumula ang knee issues sa wear and tear (aging) at sa mga injury mula sa sports/exercise involving jumping o motions na may pivot (quick change in direction). Marami rin kasing stress ang napupunta sa tuhod dahil gamit na gamit ang major joint na ito sa napakaraming daily activities tulad ng walking, sitting, squatting, jogging, driving, at lifting.

Mga common na sanhi ng sakit sa tuhod based sa problem area:

  • Tendons – Tinatawag na tendonitis pag may inflammation rito. Kadalasan, tinatawag itong “jumper’s knee” pag tendon sa patella ang inflamed.
  • Cartilage – Pwedeng magkaroon ng tear or punit rito. Pag osteoarthritis naman ang cause, may wearing down o unti-unting pagkawala ng cartilage.
  • Ligaments/Muscles – Maaaring magkaroon ng sprain o strain. Madalas marinig sa sports injuries ang ACL. Tear (punit) o sprain ito sa Anterior Cruciate Ligament.
Preventing Knee Pain

Iwasang maging overweight para hindi madagdagan ang stress sa knee at upang iwasan ang knee pain treatment. Maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

Iwasan ang biglang pag-twist ng tuhod, lalo na sa high intensity activities tulad ng sports at dancing. Practice proper form at protective movements para maiwasan ang knee injury.

Kung hindi ka confident sa iyong fitness level, huwag biglain ang pagcompete sa sports na maraming pivoting at jumping. Subukan muna ang jogging at running, pero mag-ingat rin dahil meron namang

tinatawag na “runner’s knee” na sanhi ng sakit sa may kneecap.

Magandang exercise upang maiwasan ang knee injuries ang swimming.

Tandaang magstretch, warm up, at cool down sa bawat workout o sports session.

 

Strengthen the muscles (e.g. quadriceps, hamstring) sa may knee area. Nakakatulong ito sa stability at nagbibigay ito ng added support sa tuhod.

Kahit konti pa lang ang pain, huwag nang piliting ituloy pa ang movement o activity na nagcause nito. Rest and monitor the pain.

Kung lagi kang nakatayo o naglalakad sa trabaho, remember to take breaks para magstretch at umupo. Kung lagi ka namang nakaupo sa work, magstretch at maglakad-lakad para mabawasan ang stiffness at tension sa katawan. Para sa mga laging stuck sa traffic at nagmamaneho, ensure proper driving posture at distance sa manibela, dahil maraming repetitive movements ang right knee (brake, accelerate) na hindi ginagawa ng left knee.

Knee Pain Treatment and Remedies

Para sa minor knee pain, maaring subukan ang OTC pain reliever tulad ng Paracetamol + Propyphenazone + Caffeine (Saridon), and PAINlahatang gamot. . It starts to release in as fast as 5 minutes. Maaari din siyang gamitin for fever, headache, body pain, dysmenorrhea and toothache.

Pag na-injure ang tuhod at may swelling, makakatulong ang ilang knee pain treatment. Maglagay ng ice pack (10 minutes at a time, every 3 to 4 hours) at ibalot ang swollen area gamit ang bandages (compression) bilang first aid. Consult your doctor as soon as you can for knee injuries. Maaari kang i-refer ka sa Orthopedic department for further diagnosis at knee pain treatment options.

Magpa-recommend ng knee strengthening exercises sa iyong medical professional. Tandaan na lalong nagkakaroon ng stress sa knee joint kapag mayroong weight gain.

Gawing bahagi ng iyong knee pain treatment o pain management plan ang supportive therapies tulad ng meditation at art & music therapy. May mga herbal remedies rin na maaaring makatulong, pero dapat cleared ng doctor para siguradong safe.

Huwag madaliin ang iyong recovery. Sundin ang doctor’s advice at ang kanyang knee pain treatment plan. Kahit tumagal nang ilang buwan ang healing at physical therapy, maging patient, disciplined, at maingat. Mabuti na ang unti-unting pagrecover kaysa ma-injure uli.
